KOH TAO is a small tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand famous for it’s sandy beaches, colourful reefs and friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The island offers something for everyone, Sairee Beach is the most popular area and offers visitors a wide selection of Bars and Restaurants along it’s famous “walking street”. It is also a favourite spot for watching the sun set at the end of the day.
In the south of the island (10 mins away by road) are Chalok Ban Kao Bay and Freedom Beach. These idyllic beaches are great places to relax and offer plenty of choice when it comes to cafes, restaurants and small boutique shops. During the day sun-worshippers have a choice of several beautiful easy to reach beaches they can visit. Most of the islands beaches are accessible by road, however, you can also take a full day or half day boat trip around the island making stops along the way to take lunch, do some snorkelling and relax on some of the islands more remote bays.
Koh Tao is also a popular spot for scuba diving and it’s easy to see why. The island is surrounded by colourful coral reefs abundant with marine life. Turtles and Whalesharks are regular visitors to the dive sites around Koh Tao and the island’s many shallow protected bays make this an ideal place to get your PADI Open Water license should you wish to explore the underwater world for yourself.
